India and Pakistan will renew one of the fiercest sporting rivalries ever at the 2023 ODI World Cup hosted in India.

India and Pakistan, cricket’s two arch-rivals, always create an uproar when they meet. On Saturday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad they will clash once more – hoping to continue their winning momentum from tournament openers! Both sides have begun with victories so far.
This match marks the second meeting between these sides in this tournament; their previous encounter in Pallekele was rain-affected and Pakistan’s bowlers had struck early by knocking out India’s top order to leave them struggling at 66/4 in their chase, but Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India hope with both scoring half centuries to bring success and secure their passage through to round two.

At present, Pakistan holds an advantage of 173 points over India in their overall ODI head-to-head record. Although India will take time to overtake this advantage, it could happen faster with frequent bilateral and triangular series against each other going forward as well as participating more often in international tournaments such as Champions Trophy or World Cup events.
