What to see in the cities of India’s Golden Triangle?

What to see in Delhi and New Delhi
Delhi and New Delhi form a large city that is nothing more and nothing less than the capital of India, one of the most populated capitals in the world, with more than 14 million inhabitants and a multitude of buildings, gardens, and monuments that are worth visiting. And, of course, it is part of India’s golden circuit.
Among them, is Humayun’s Tomb, which is declared a World Heritage Site and was the main source of inspiration for the construction of the Taj Mahal. It is an example of funerary architecture in which Emperor Humayun is buried. But not only is the construction itself worth visiting, but the gardens around it are also impressive.
Another place worth visiting is the Red Fort, built with sandstone of this color between 1638 and 1648 with walls more than 6 kilometers long and a height of more than 30 meters in some of its sections with two monumental access doors.
Also of interest to tourists is the Jama Masjid Mosque, which is one of the largest and most monumental mosques in all of Asia. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the mid-17th century on a small hill from which the entire city can be seen.
You also cannot miss the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib temple, which is the main Sikh temple in the capital. It was built in marble and above the whiteness and purity of this material, we can see an impressive golden dome that reflects the sun’s rays, and around it, there is a large sacred pool. Other places you should also visit are the Main Bazaar, the Qutab Minar, the Lotus Temple, and the Raj Ghat.
What to see in Agra
Agra is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, about 210 kilometers from Delhi and about 24 kilometers from Jaipur, and is also part of the Golden Triangle of India, being one of the most representative cities of the country because it has one of the 7 wonders of the modern world: the Taj Mahal.
This is a colossal white marble mausoleum located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631 to honor the memory of his fourth wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and took 20 years to complete.
Although the most impressive and important thing to see in Agra is the Taj Mahal, it is not the only thing you should visit. For example, it is essential to visit the Red Fort, which was built in the mid-16th century under the rule of Emperor Akbar of Mongolia and is one of the most spectacular fortresses in India. It is built of red sandstone, its enclosure measures 2.5 kilometers in diameter and has a maximum height of 20 metres. Inside you can visit different buildings and palaces and enjoy a walk through its gardens.
Another building you can’t miss in Agra is the Mausoleum of Itimad-Ud-Daulah, also known as “the little Taj” because of its similarity to the Taj Mahal. It dates back to the time of the Mughal Empire and was built in the early 16th century on the banks of the Yamuna River, just like the Taj Mahal. Its main entrance is made of red sandstone and the mausoleum itself is made of white marble.
Other buildings worth visiting in Agra include the Tomb of Chini Ka Rauza, the Ram Bagh Gardens, the Mausoleum of Akbar the Great, the Akbar Church, and other places of interest.
What to see in Jaipur
Jaipur is another of the cities with the most history in all of India. It is known as the old city or pink city and is part of the Golden Triangle of India and, therefore, is one of the most tourist places to visit, due to the richness of its historical heritage and its impressive architecture.
The most important place to visit is the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, which was built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries to house the entire harem of women of Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh.
It has 953 small windows to allow the women who lived there to see the city without being seen, which caused wind currents to blow throughout the palace, thus receiving its name. As a main feature, this palace consists of five floors built with pink sandstone.
Another place of interest not too far from the Hawa Mahal is the City Palace, which has been none other than the seat of the Jaipur government for more than three centuries.
Another place in this city worth visiting is the bazaar and its streets, where you can find a multitude of shops grouped by trades, and you cannot miss the Old Palace of Jaipur, which is also known as the “Water Palace” because it is located in the middle of Lake Man Sagar and is therefore always flooded.
